Changsha WES Academy(CWA) is the first and only international school in Hunan Province that uses English as the primary language of instruction. CWA was established in order to support this growth by attracting moreforeign investors to Changsha City and Hunan Province atlarge. With the support of theleaders of Changsha City, the Changsha National Economic and Technical Development Zone Administrative Committee (CETZAC) cooperated with Worldwide Education Services, Singapore (WES Group) to establish an international school for the children of expatriate and SARfamilies. Currently, we offer an international curriculum for children from ages 3 to 19.
We have been approved as an lnternational School by the PRC Ministry of Education and we are an accredited member of the Council of lnternational Schools(CIS). ln May 2014, the International Baccalaureate Organization authorized us as a Primary Years Programme, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. All IB World Schools share a common philosophy of a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education which we believe is important for our students.

CIS accredited international school
CWA is a member of the CIS accredited international school alliance. CIS international school alliance is a global non-profit organization which aims to provide high-quality international education. CIS accreditation is recognized worldwide and is a symbol of high-quality education, and its members are welcomed by universities around the world. The international schools are selected to be a member by 20% proportion, and a small number of member schools are selected for accreditation. By 2016, CIS community included 711 schools and 512 colleges and universities representing 112 countries. In China, there are 37-member schools, but only 23 other international schools have been successfully accredited.

IBO (international baccalaureate organization) member school
CWA is a member school of IBO accredited international diploma organization and is the only one IBO member school in Hunan province. IBO a non-profit international education foundation is founded in 1968, registered by the United Nations scientific and cultural organization. It is recognized as the frontrunner of international education. IBDP (IBO university preparatory course) is recognized as university preparatory course and highly accepted by renowned universities all over the world.

CIE accredited international schools
CIE (Cambridge exam board) is affiliated to the University of Cambridge, which is one of the world’s largest international education certification and testing institutions. CIE is committed to providing the highest quality curriculum teaching system and standardized tests for universities, primary and secondary schools around the world. CWA is an authorized CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) examination center, is one of the three test centers in Hunan province. It means we are qualified to conduct A-level and IGCSE exams at our own campus.

Microsoft School
Changsha WES Academy is the only Chinese member of the Microsoft Schools Program outside of Guangdong, Shanghai and Beijing. The award of Microsoft School is only given to those schools who are considered to be the leaders in education. Being a member shows that we are committed to developing an innovative learning environment, where lessons can be completely interactive. However, it is not just lessons that can become interactive but also school projects and homework.
